Okay I'm confused, why was this guy serving for the US Army, but talking to Anwar Al-Awlaki, then spending 7 hours at a strip club everyday but then ending up doing "God's work?" Wow. Oh, I also forgot to mention that this religious extremist's family owns and operates a bar. What on earth went on here? Things were going fine until some idiot decides that jihad means killing people when they're not in battle when they least expect it, and when you're ON THEIR SIDE. Ya Allah rid our world of hypocrites and do not allow the deviators to give face to our Ummah. We do not need these "Muslims".

The House of Khadijah (R.A.)
Elhamdulillah, I have been fortunate enough to come across a beautiful lecture by Yasir Qadhi about the life of the beloved wife of Rasulullah a.s., Khadijah bint Khuwaylid. I learned so much from this lecture masha'Allah, and it portrays love in it's truest form. This lecture confirms the deep love that Rasul a.s. had for Khadijah, and what a loving and devoted wife she was to him. Here is the link, I pray that Allah makes it beneficial to you and to anybody else you may pass it on to bi ithnilLah.

I'm back!
It's been a crazy summer, I got to visit three different countries, spend my days on the beach, and spend time with my family, what more could a girl ask for? So classes started on Monday, and I already have work to do and I know it's only downhill from here! But insha'Allah I'll do well this semester, because last year was a total academic train wreck. It's so great to be back at Stony Brook, every night there's iftar, so it's pretty much like having a gigantic dinner party with your friends every night, elhamdulillah! Here's a video I stumbled upon on YouTube about a man in Turkey who can paint pictures...oh, did I mention he wasn't born with eyes? Ramadan Mubarak!

Hearbreaking Literature and lots of shopping

It's been a crazy past few days, going to get my passport renewed all the way in Connecticut, buying the millions of (really random) things my mother tells me to buy, driving allover the place, but I have somehow managed to finish the book that I planned to read on the plane trip from here to Amman in 3 days, I hate being such an obsessive reader. I really can not put book downs until I finish them all at once. After seeing a preview and being interested in the story, I saw "My Sister's Keeper" by Jodi Picoult for sale at Costco so I figured I should read it since I hear it's really good. It WAS really good, but it was terrifying, heartbreaking, and at the end I cried my eyes out for a good half hour. Go read it. Even if you're a guy.

Change of plans
I discovered a few days ago that I actually don't need to go to summer school, so I'm so excited to say that insha'Allah, I'll be going overseas to see the family! I miss my sisters like crazy, and I miss my mama! It's her birthday today. On this day in 1966 Allah blessed my grandparents with a beautiful daughter, who turned out to be a wonderful friend, sister, wife but most important, a wonderful mother. I should be with my mother right now, Paradise lies beneath her feet.

Ne mutlu Turkum diyene....

I'm in New Jersey visiting a wonderful family-friend, it's so good to be with me peoples! Makes me miss Turkiye so much more though. I must have gained 15 pounds in the past 2 days, yesterday I was treated to a feast in Toros, a Turkish restaurant in Paterson (kazandibi for dessert :D) and then today was invited to a barbecue, and I think I ate my own weight in kadayif. Let's see if I go on any other Turkish food binges tomorrow :)
